The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 7.7-magnitude earthquake at a depth of only 10 km in northern Myanmar at 1:20 PM Thailand time on March 28, 2025. Initial reports indicate that the tremors were felt in Myanmar, China, and Thailand, reaching as far as Bangkok.
Earlier, Google reported a 4.9-magnitude earthquake at 1:22 PM on March 28, 2025, in Myanmar near the Thai border in Pang Mapha District, Mae Hong Son Province. However, this was not the earthquake's epicenter but rather a reading detected by mobile devices from users.
