Pilot Trial of the Entry–Exit Registration System for Foreign Nationals Traveling to Laos

Start Date: September 1, 2025

Applies to: Passport holders only

Pilot Border Checkpoints (4 locations):
1. Wattay International Airport, Vientiane Capital
2. Luang Prabang International Airport, Luang Prabang Province
3. Pakse International Airport, Champasak Province
4. First Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge Checkpoint (Nong Khai – Vientiane)

Foreign nationals using a passport who intend to enter or exit Laos via these four checkpoints must register through the online system prior to travel. After successful registration, a QR Code will be issued, which is valid for 3 days.

Steps:
1. Pre-register at: www.immigration.gov.la
2. Receive QR Code (valid for 3 days)
3. Present the QR Code to Lao immigration officers in place of the traditional Departure–Arrival Form

Note:
If pre-registration is not completed in advance, travelers can still register upon arrival in Laos or fill out the physical Departure–Arrival Form during the pilot phase.

**Travelers using a Border Pass do not need to register.

Next Phase:
Beginning in early 2026, this system will be expanded to all international border checkpoints in Laos.
