The Climate Resilience Island Program Team is pleased to have completed the final community profiling’s for Ha’apai in the communities of Pangai, Lotofoa, Fotua, Ha’ano and Muiota 📍🌴.

This allows the team together with the community to review and finalize information from studying contextualized systems in the community between people and place, various kinds of climate and other hazard scenarios, and some in-depth analysis in the areas of livelihood, food security, nature-based systems, and climate vulnerabilities.

To secure food security and local supply of fresh nutritious foods, Biofilta foodcubes provided in response to the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai Volcanic Eruptions were monitored. Thankfully, recipients have been making good use of these food cubes, growing varieties of vegetables. 🌱🍅🥦🥕

This is a great achievement and a huge step towards building climate resilience across Tonga. A big MALO ‘AUPITO to our local experts for the efforts 👏👏🤝

We appreciate this initiative's support from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
