Ulster Scots is a language spoken in Northern Ireland; closely related to Scots, similar to English, yet with its own distinct character.

The significance of this language has recently come back into focus with the first ever translation and staging of Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot” in Ulster Scots. This translation represents an important literary milestone, as it brings a classic work of world literature to the stage in this language for the first time.
