This is the story of this T31 NISSAN XTRAIL that was badly mutilated by previous shops. Customer stated the vehicle was driving properly and suddenly started malfunctioning. It was taken to alot of shops (about 9-10) where the situation got worse and worse by inexperienced techs interfering to the point where the vehicle was now unable to start anymore or even drive. The electrical harness was badly chopped up and alot of control units and other electronics was blown (none of them being the actual problem). After being parked up for about a year and alot of money wasted on unnecessary parts(engine brain,transmission brain,BCM or body brain,ipdm or smart box and throttle body etc) wrong parts and parts were also misplaced by the previous shops. A site visit and assessment was done and the vehicle was brought in to the shop to be properly diagnosed and repaired. After tons of work and hours Repairing the electrical system back to company specifications with only one part that was actually bad( caused by previous careless daignosing) we determined it was a breakdown in communication of the can bus system. Now the correct equipment could be connected to the vehicle safely to find the root cause of the problem. The central control unit( headunit or radio with built in navigation system and ETP etc)was the main cause nothing else all other problems were created by careless technicians who simply did not know what they were doing. Control unit was removed and signals were cleaned up and vehicle is now back to original working order. The customers patience was also highly appreciated and an important ingredient in a case like this. Also a tech that's willing to follow all the right procedures and go the extra mile to make sure money is not wasted and vehicle is repaired back to good working order. Customer was so happy to finally drive their vehicle again after believing they would never get it repaired. .
