The foundation of Financial Planning is Risk Management. If one fails to address the needs here their savings & investments are vulnerable if loss occurs
Actuarial statistics indicate that disability has a greater likelihood of occurring than death. Many persons possess life insurance with nothing in place for disability or critical illness. Could we bear being a financial burden to our family for an extended period with nothing in place to offset the expenses incurred in taking care of us?
Neil Armstrong once said:"There can be no great accomplishment without risks" Sometimes we have no choice in the risks that confront us but we do have choice in the actions we take in preparation for those that have the greatest likelihood of occurring. This may involve doing things we may have never done before.

People claim that insurance is a GAMBLE but it is actually the opposite of gambling. Gambling creates risk where none existed. Insurance however, transfers an already existing risk exposure (e.g. death) and, through the pooling of similar loss exposures, reduces financial risk. He who doesn't insure GAMBLES with the greatest of all chances, which if he loses, makes those dearest to him pay a heavy price for possibly the rest of their lives - Dr. Solomon Huebner
