At TAS, service learning gives our students real opportunities to connect classroom learning to authentic needs in the community, to solve problems collaboratively, take initiative, research, and reflect, in order to understand and value the impact of service.

Cathy Berger Kaye is a world-renowned expert who supports schools all over the world, as well as in EARCOS/IASAS, on integrating service learning into curriculum.

The month of May is Asian-American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander's (AANHPI) Heritage Month in the United States.

We are thrilled to announce that Paula Yoo, the author of From a Whisper to a Rallying Cry, will join this parent event via Zoom from the US!

Paula Yoo's excellent book is available for purchase at Caves Books and can also be accessed as an e-book or audiobook on the Sora and Libby apps.

We often hear parents say they would like to know more about the kind of coursework our children are studying. This is a rare chance to dive deeply and meaningfully into the material.

We encourage you to watch the documentary "Vincent Who? The Murder of a Chinese American Man" with your Upper School children and join our discussion with Paula on Tuesday. This 40-minute film can be accessed on Kanopy: https://www.kanopy.com/en/tas/video/160767

Cassy Lee, US Librarian, will be sharing how relevant classes in the Upper School are preparing for Paula Yoo's own visit on May 19 to discuss this important case and its continued relevance in American culture today.

Please join TASCC for the next Coffee & Conversations on Tuesday, May 9 at 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM on campus in the MPR (Multi-Purpose Room) next to the cafeteria. Coffee and pastries will be served. To register, please sign up below: https://forms.office.com/r/b9vTkiAtwB

If you cannot join in-person, you can join via Zoom Webinar by registering here: https://tinyurl.com/tas-zoom-20230509

As usual, we will also hear the latest update about the latest Schoolwide DEIJ (formerly JEDI) Committee meeting.

We look forward to seeing you in-person on Tuesday, May 9!
