Tarangire Park received its name from tarangire River that flows through the northern portion of the park. The river becomes the primary source of water for the animals residing in the park during the dry season. During the dry season a mini- Migration takes place in which around 250,000 animals move around looking for water. Besides the elephants ( there's herds of up to 300k elephants 🐘 ) you will also find a lot of buffaloes 🐃, zebras,leopards and different species of birds.
Tarangire covers an area of 2850 square kilometer and its landscape is made of granite ridges, rivers valley and swamp. It's vegetation is mix of woodlands,seasonally flooded grassland and baobab 🌳 trees.
