🫏 Have you ever heard of Maasai Land Rovers? Donkeys are the famous Land Rovers of the Maasai, used to transport food, water, and wood for house construction. Donkeys are widespread among the Maasai and indispensable for covering long distances with heavy loads.

🌿 The Lake Natron area has been at the heart of the indigenous Maasai people for centuries. The unique habitat and landscape are preserved through ancestral knowledge and practices such as traditional pastoralism. The Maasai rely on pastoral areas such as the so-called "Hole of God" to graze their livestock during periods of extreme drought. Therefore, outside of the drought season, no one is allowed to graze their livestock within the depression.

⛰️ From this caldera, you also have a majestic view of the striking mountains of the Lake Natron region: Kerimasi, Kitumbeine, and, of course, Oldonyo Lengai.

🛏️ Our “guest houses” are simply furnished, but offer our visitors real beds, as sleeping on the floor (which is common among the Maasai) is too unfamiliar for many. We look forward to your visit and to bringing you a little closer to the life of the Maasai.

🌋 During your stay you will learn a lot about Lake Natron's landscape and wildlife, traditional Maasai livestock grazing, medicinal herb gathering, you can attend a beadwork workshop and many more activities.
