Our mission is to have a community that respects people’s equal rights through the sharing of knowledge of rights, providing equal access to legal and economic services to marginalised people and lobby for changes.

The organisation has 26 committed human resources who work to advocate for human rights and gender equality.

KWIECO is a member based organisation; it has a BOARD of Directors which provides an oversight role and supports resource mobilisation and Management which is responsible for the day today implementation of activities.

KWIECO applies both Transformative Management and Human Rights Based Development Approach.

KWIECO over the years has been able to:-

Create legal and human rights and gender awareness to communities.

Access justice to marginalised people through legal counselling which is now decentralised to District and Ward levels and to offer court representation support.

Participated in Constitutional Review process and coordinated the Kilimanjaro network to increase the Kilimanjaro women’s voices.

Manages a women’s shelter for survivors of Gender Based Violence. Survivors of violence and accompanying children are provided with basic needs, legal and psychosocial support and skills development and facilitates resettlement.

Economic empowerment to marginalized women ensures women have increased access to control and ownership of economic resources as a means to overcome Gender Base Violence.

Different strategic stakeholders at local, Regional and National have been involved in KWIECO’s project implementation process. this includes Local government authority, police gender desk, social welfare officers, Clan leaders, Teachers, religious leaders, Journalists and other civil society organization.
