We interview a lot at Olearis. And we see how other companies hire even more often.
Same picture almost everywhere in 2026:
— 400+ applications, half written by GPT
— the best candidate auto-rejected for missing a keyword
— hiring manager "still thinking" three weeks in
— rejected candidates ghosted, then venting on Glassdoor
We put what we see (inside and at our clients) into one honest read on AI recruitment
If you're hiring - this'll save you some nerves 👇

Last year Klarna told everyone their AI was doing the work of 700 customer service people. It was all over the news.
This year they're hiring those people back. The CEO admitted: "we went too far." The AI could answer simple questions, but it couldn't deal with anything complicated, and customers were not happy.
IBM had the same problem with their HR team. The AI worked fine for routine stuff, but anything sensitive or emotional still needed a real person.
Duolingo announced they were going "AI-first" and got slammed online for it. The CEO ended up apologizing publicly.
Forrester ran a survey - 55% of companies now regret their AI layoffs.
It kind of feels like watching the same mistake happen in slow motion across the whole industry.
