Iguazu Falls: Brazil and Argentina
Argentina and Brazil share World Heritage national parks conserving spectacular waterfalls that feed the Iguazu River. Multiple cataracts, extending more than 8,800 feet from a height of 262 feet, generate a vast spray of water in a unique subtropical rainforest habitat. Stay in either country's tourist town, boat or bus in and carry your passport to cross the border. Guided daytrips often include pickup and drop-off from Puerto Iguazú hotels. Plus, look for rainbows, 2,000 plant species and animals, including tapirs, anteaters, monkeys, ocelots, jaguars and caimans.

Galápagos Islands, Ecuador
The Galápagos is an isolated group of islands 605 miles (974km) off the west coast of Ecuador. Famous for being the place that inspired naturalist Charles Darwin’s work On the Origin of the Species, the diversity of wildlife here is mind-blowing. The Galápagos is home to over 300 different reptile species and birds such as the blue-footed b***y, with 50% of the world’s breeding pairs living here.

Vestrahorn: Stokksnes peninsula, Iceland
Nearly 1,500 feet tall, Vestrahorn towers above a lagoon and black sand beach in southeast Iceland. This mountain sits adjacent to Brunnhorn, which locals refer as the "Batman Mountain" because of the shape formed by its three peaks. The Stokksnes peninsula is popular with tourists and photographers, so expect to pay a small entrance fee on your way to get the most stunning views. If you time your visit just right, you may even get lucky enough to see the northern lights dance above Vestrahorn.
