Друзі, привіт!

Сьогодні ми б хотіли розповісти Вам про нашу викладачку, академічну директорку Школи української мови та культури, кандидатку педагогічних наук, авторку низки статей з лінгвістики і педагогіки, а також авторку підручника «Яблуко» базового рівня – пані Мар’яну Бурак.

Пані Мар’яна працює на Школі української мови та культури ще практично від самого її заснування, а отже знає всі етапи становлення програми, пам’ятає всі труднощі, з якими стикалася команда у процесі розвитку курсів та матеріалів, розуміє потреби викладачів та студентів.

Одним із викликів, з яким зіткнулися викладачі Школи на початку її функціонування, була відсутність не лише сучасного навчального матеріалу, але й розробленої методики викладання української мови як іноземної загалом. Тому викладачам доводилося самотужки «винаходити» граматичні правила: спостерігати, аналізувати, виявляти тенденції і закономірності, а тоді описувати їх і розробляти до них вправи. Згодом же, коли накопичилося чимало розробленого матеріалу, з’явилася ідея укласти підручник.

Втім, як виявилося, написання підручника - довгий і кропіткий процес. Зокрема, робота над базовим рівнем тривала понад 5 років. Підбір цікавого матеріалу, адаптування його до рівня володіння мовою студентів та навчальної мети – це лише частина усієї виконаної роботи. Чимало зусиль потрібно було докласти, щоб систематизувати все розроблене, перевірити відповідність матеріалу дидактичним та методичним принципам, естетично його оформити, вичитати, апробувати та відредагувати попередню версію підручника тощо.
Найбільше зусиль вимагало написання текстів на читання, адже хотілося зробити їх сучасними, цікавими, інформативними та ще й нескладними за рівнем.

У текстах пані Мар’яна використала низку творів студентів Школи про життя та звичаї їхніх сімей і країн. Такі особисті розповіді про власний досвід представника тієї чи іншої культури додали підручнику автентичности, інформації у текстах достовірности, а читачам відчуття міжособистісного спілкування з тими, хто, як і вони, колись намагалися опанувати українську мову.
Водночас, джерелами інформації для підручника стали різноманітні науково-публіцистичні видання та онлайн-ресурси, а власний досвід, дитячі спогади та креативність авторки дали змогу зробити підручник якісним та неймовірно цікавим!

«Моїм натхненням та мотивацією були студенти. Хотілося, щоб вони мали змогу навчатися за якісними цікавими матеріалами» - розповідає пані Мар’яна.

Зараз вона закінчує роботу над «Комунікативним додатком» до підручника "Яблуко" та разом з командою Школи інтенсивно працює над редагуванням початкового рівня підручника. Також пані Мар’яна має задум написати колись нове видання Базового рівня, зорієнтоване вже на Початковий рівень, який незабаром побачить світ. Саме завдяки старанням авторки зараз наші студенти мають змогу вивчати українську мову легко та цікаво!

Hello, friends!

Today we would like to introduce to you our teacher, academic director of the School of Ukrainian language and culture, a candidate of the pedagogical sciences, the author of several articles on linguistics and pedagogy, and its author of the textbook "Yabluko" for the Elementary level, Ms. Mariana Burak.

Ms. Mariana has been working at the School of Ukrainian language and culture since nearly its very beginning. She is familiar with the various stages of growth that the program underwent, remembers all the difficulties faced by the team in the development of courses and materials, and understands the needs of teachers and students.

One of the challenges faced by teachers of the School during its first stages was not only the lack of modern educational material, but also the lack of developed m**hods of teaching the Ukrainian language in general. Thus, the teachers had to "invent" grammatical rules themselves. They observed, analyzed, and identified trends and patterns, and subsequently described and developed them into exercises that students can now use to study Ukrainian grammar more effectively. When the teachers accumulated enough of this educational material, the idea to create a textbook for this information was born.

However, creating a textbook proved to be a long and laborious process. In particular, creating the textbook for the Elementary level lasted more than 5 years. The process of selecting interesting material and adapting it to the level of necessary proficiency for educational purposes was only part of the work. It required considerable effort to systematically organize the exercises, verify that the material is accurate, ensure that the didactic and m**hodological principles of the book were effective, create aesthetically pleasing graphics, and to complete the process of editing previous versions of the textbook.

Still, it required the most effort to create sections for reading comprehension, because the teachers wanted to create texts that would be modern, interesting, informative, and yet, appropriate for the level of the student.

Ms. Mariana used a number of essays written by students of the School about various topics including their day-to-day lives, as well as the customs of their families and countries. These personal stories about their experiences as representatives of their cultures added a sense of authenticity to the textbooks, and a sense of interpersonal communication with the reader who, like the former student, once studied the Ukrainian language. While the sources of information for the textbook included various scientific and journalistic publications and online resources, the creativity and childhood memories of the author helped to make the content of the textbook valuable and incredibly interesting!

When asked what inspired her to create these materials, Ms. Mariana replied, "My inspiration and motivation were the students. I wanted them to have an opportunity to learn Ukrainian while using high-quality, engaging materials”

Ms. Mariana is now working on developing a "communication app" as a supplement to the "Yabluko" textbook, and is working intensively on editing the Elementary level textbook with the rest of her team. Ms. Mariana has plans to write a new edition of the Elementary level textbook, focusing on material for beginners, which will be released soon. It is through her efforts that our students now have the opportunity to study Ukrainian through such effective and interesting m**hods!
