What is service Design?Today the difference between goods and services has become blurred,and goods and services exist on a continuum.Designing a service is not the same thing as service design.Designing a service is is us creating a customer journey,that end to end of what the customer experiences.That is only one part.Service design goes beyond and takes a close look at what the employees of the service provider have to do,inorder to produce that customer experience. In discussing life transitions,it is necessary to first differentiate between change and transition.Change is situational like changing a jo,retirement,buying or starting a business or death of a spouse.Transition is psychological,and is not about the actual change that happened,but ratherthe inner shifts and self re-orientation and self re-allignment that you have to go through,inorder to live comfortably with the changes that happened in your life.Unless transition happens,the change will not auger well for you.Transitions are difficult to navigate,and pose real challenges in life.Some societies had rituals,called rites of passage that helped individuals let go of the past and find a new bearing in life.Such societies also had transition related concepts/oral history,that prepared people to expecttransitions.Lacking such cultural guidance,we ae like a ship without a radar.We know the ship is moving,but have no idea of where it is moving to.We have missed the grand picture....
