Assessment first, then shows. FCI shows evaluate how closely a dog matches breed ideal. But you need an assessment to prove where it started. Breeders who skip assessment enter shows with zero data. That’s guessing, not breeding.

What does “first official description” actually mean?
Weight, height, bite, coat, gait, pigment, given by a certified national judge. That becomes your dog’s baseline. At later shows, judges see if the dog improved or declined. No baseline? No way to measure progress.
