Last Friday, 120 vibrant youth participants in C1 – 2026 engaged in an intensive Youth-Friendly Family Planning Training led by two Budondo HCIV Health Workers.

The training was a game changer where participants learnt to take control of their health and getting the right information. This included both short term, medium term - the injectables, long term – Implants in modern and safe contraceptive methods.

Still, throughout the training, the youth participants also learnt to break down the barriers, tackling cultural myths, and learning how to access safe, modern reproductive health services to prevent unwanted pregnancies and diseases.

At Community Concerns Uganda, we believe that financial inclusion is a cornerstone of rural development. We are proud to highlight the incredible progress of one of our savings group in Bukoli, Mayuge district.

Our initiative is designed to support both women and men by providing sustainable financial services tailored to their needs. Through these community-led saving groups, members pool resources to save, borrow, and scale their businesses.

By offering credit with significantly lower interest rates, we are easing the financial burden on rural families. The impact is clear and multifaceted improved standards of living, human capital where families can now reliably afford school fees and healthcare, and economic growth where members are actively investing in and growing their local businesses.

We remain dedicated to fostering financial independence and community resilience across Busoga Sub region.

In many communities, girls are often steered towards traditional roles like hairdressing and tailoring. The Girls’ Education and Mentorship Support (GEMS) project is changing that mindset in the Busoga sub-region.

Last week, we partnered with skilled artisans across Buyende District - specifically in the communities of Irundu, Kitukiro, Namusita, Nkondo, and Kidera. These mentors will train out-of-school girls in hands-on, high-demand trades like metal fabrication, electrical installation, and motorcycle repair.

The GEMS project empowers girls to confidently step into careers traditionally dominated by men, proving that talent has no gender. Together, we are breaking stereotypes, opening new doors, and proving that girls can pursue any career they dream of.
