The Ankole, also known as the Banyankole, are an ethnic group from Western Uganda. They are part of the larger Bantu-speaking group of people and have a rich cultural heritage.

-Cattle play a central role in Ankole culture. The Ankole people are renowned for their large-horned Ankole longhorn cattle, which are considered a symbol of wealth, status, and prestige. Cattle are not only a source of livelihood but also hold cultural and spiritual significance. They are used in dowry negotiations, important ceremonies, and traditional rituals

The Gishu, also known as the Gisu or Bagisu, are an ethnic group indigenous to the eastern region of Uganda. They primarily inhabit the slopes of Mount Elgon, which straddles the border between Uganda and Kenya. The Gishu people are renowned for their rich cultural heritage, which includes vibrant traditions, customs, and practices.
The Gishu people have elaborate rites of passage ceremonies that mark important milestones in an individual's life. The most significant of these ceremonies is the Imbalu circumcision ritual, which takes place every two years. It is a coming-of-age ceremony for young men, symbolizing their transition from boyhood to manhood. The circumcision is performed without anesthesia and is accompanied by traditional dances, music, feasting, and celebrations.

Historically, the Baganda were primarily agriculturalists, with farming as the main economic activity. They cultivated crops such as bananas, coffee, tea, and cotton. Today, many Baganda are engaged in various professions and businesses.
