* Giraffes are the tallest mammals on Earth.
* Although it may seem counterintuitive, a giraffe's neck is too short to reach the ground, requiring it to either spread its front legs or kneel for a drink.
* Giraffes are known to spend most of their time standing up, even when sleeping or giving birth.
* These animals have evolved to conserve water, obtaining most of their hydration from the plants they eat and only drinking every few days.
* Newborn giraffe calves develop quickly, standing and walking within an hour and starting to eat vegetation within a week.
* Unfortunately, many giraffe calves are preyed upon by predators during their first few months, despite their mothers' protective efforts.
