It was a full-circle moment for PEDN to co-host the convening of the new Enterprise and Social Innovation Community of Practice inspired by the Ashoka Fellows Legacy Network at the American Center Kampala.

The gathering brought together women founders, social entrepreneurs, innovators, and ecosystem builders to reflect honestly on leadership, sustainability, purpose, and the real work of building impact that lasts.

From conversations on founder well-being and succession, to the hard truths about sustainability beyond donor funding, to the power of networks, visibility, and technology, the dialogue reminded us that social innovation is not a solo journey. It is built in community, tested over time, and strengthened by collaboration.

We were especially inspired by stories of long-term commitment, courage to pause and transition, and the reminder that impact is measured not only by scale, but by lives changed and systems influenced.

This convening reaffirmed why spaces like these matter. They allow us to learn, unlearn, connect, and reimagine how enterprise can truly serve society.
