February is Library Lovers Month! ❤️ What's the connection between Habitat Susquehanna and libraries? Here are some fun facts:
📚 At every home dedication day, the Harford County Literacy Association donates a bookcase and age-appropriate books to the Habitat partner families who have younger children! The donors are a professional group of teachers and retirees who promote reading throughout the county. (Left-side pics include some of the children of these Habitat families who discovered the books while touring their soon-to-be homes.)
📚 In the past, additional books have been given to these families by other donors, too, such as by the Darlington Friends of HCPL.
📚 The Aberdeen ReStore has a Little Free Library in its parking lot! The ReStore has often also donated books to other Little Free Libraries in the area!
📚 Aberdeen's first Little Free Library (at Swan Meadows) was built in 2017 and installed by one of Habitat Susquehanna's past Board members, John Moore, and maintained by another Board member, Katie York.
📚 This Little Free Library at Swan Meadows has received books from The Maryland Book Bank, The Book Thing of Baltimore, among other places.
📚 Habitat volunteers Steve Hunter, John Moore, John Walters and John Buck created four new Little Free Libraries for the Halls Cross Roads Elementary School community.
