LRP Updates for the 2027 Crop Year

Beginning July 1, 2026, several updates are being made to Livestock Risk Protection (LRP):

o Policies with no premium earned for three consecutive crop years must be canceled by the Approved Insurance Provider (AIP).

o Add Unborn Bulls and Heifers Weight 2 type for Feeder Cattle with a weight range of 6.0 cwt to 9.0 cwt.

o The maximum weight for Fed Cattle coverage has increased from 16 cwt to 18 cwt.

FSA is strengthening the farm safety net thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act that adds up to 30 million new base acres nationwide. Starting June 1, landowners can update and increase base acres in preparation for enrollment in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2026 and future crop years.

Prevent plant losses need to be reported within 72 hours of the final planting date.

The final plant date for corn was May 25th.

Please report your prevent plant corn losses timely.

Also, prevent plant losses need to be reported to FSA within 15 days of the final plant date.

The final plant date for soybeans is June 10th.

USDA is maximizing disaster assistance support through a second Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) payment to eligible producers. Application deadline has been extended to Aug. 12, 2026.
