When you combine a Pandemic and Divorce, you have a recipe for disaster in terms of your health and wellness.
The following article from December 2019, provides excellent tips to help you navigate the Pandemic and your divorce in a manner to preserve your health and wellness.
You already know many of these tips (friends and family are always quick to offer advice), but a quick recap never hurts:
1. Talk to a professional -- video conferences has made mental health professionals more accessible than ever before.
2. Get your sleep. Turn your electronics off at night. Go to bed.
3. Eat well. It's okay to splurge on dessert, but try to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Now isn't the time for extreme diet changes. Cut back on refined sugars. If you can't pronounce the ingredients in what you are eating, then you probably shouldn't be eating it.
4. Lay off the booze. It's just not a good idea.
5. Move. Even a 20-minute walk is better than nothing. Listen to your Apple Watch - stand, breathe, move.
6. Meditation, even 10 minutes daily can improve your mental health, reducing depression and anxiety - two big bi-products of divorce.
7. Stick to your routines. Kids like them. So do adults.
8. Lean on your Village. That's what they are there for -- video conference, it's nice to see faces.
9. Hey, treat yourself. Go to an esthetician to discuss your skincare routine - get a facial. Get a massage (if you can) - if they are open - you know COVID. Even a manicure or a pedicure can make you feel awesome. Do something special just for YOU.
Getting divorced sucks, but in a year, it will be better. I've helped people divorce for 18 years now. It gets better, but it's really hard to see it when you are living it.
