Thank you to Maureen Eckhoff Hagen for bringing some historic items from Immanuel Lutheran Church. The following is from the 75th Anniversary booklet...
History of Congregation: "Immanuel," "God With Us," this is the name chosen by the founders of our beloved church seventy-five years ago, and God has indeed been with the congregation throughout the years. God was with the members and friends back in 1892 as they worked with such enthusiasm to build the church, and how happy they must have been when on November 13, 1892, four and one half years after the founding of the congregation the new church was dedicated to the glory of God!
One important chapter in our congregation's history began with the organization of our sister congregation at Lockhart. The final organization of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lockhart was completed in February 1924 while Pr. E. Lehne served the congregations. We have enjoyed their cooperation and fellowship through the years and we are extremely grateful for their assistance today.
In 1938 a new parsonage was erected in Lockhart and our pastors have resided there since. The old parsonage was rented until it was sold in 1954 and removed.
In 1948 an annex, or parish hall, was added to the church in order that we might have more adequate facilities for Sunday Schoo, Luther League, Women of the Church and other meetings.
Music is always an important part of our services and for years we dreamed of an electric organ. In the spring of 1955, the congregation decided to act and a Baldwin Orgasonic was installed shortly before Easter. Through generous contributions from members and friends it was paid for and dedicated to the glory of God.
Our plans to commemorate our 75th Anniversary were dampened when we received the news that Pr. D.W. Fredine had resigned to accept a call to Duluth, but with determination we went ahead with our plans with the assurance of God's help and guidance.
Our hearts were lightened when we learned that Elwood Rieke accepted our call and after his ordination in July will be with us.
