Smokey Blue Sol-Silicate Finish – Midwest Brick Stain Project

This property underwent a complete exterior transformation using a Smokey Blue Sol-Silicate finish, professionally applied by Midwest Brick Stain.

Before staining began, the home presented areas of deteriorated masonry and failing mortar joints. Our team completed all necessary masonry repairs and restoration to ensure proper surface integrity and long-term performance. These updates were allowed to fully cure prior to the coating process.

Once the substrate was prepared and stabilized, Midwest Brick Stain returned to apply Eco-Prim, followed by Sol-Silicate in Smokey Blue. The photos capture the surface while the stain was still in its drying phase. As the material continues to mineralize and fully cure, the final appearance softens into a lighter, more refined Smokey Blue — as seen in the reference image.

Midwest Brick Stain recently completed a full exterior makeover in Northfield, Illinois, transforming a dated and uneven brick façade into a clean, cohesive, modern finish.

Before staining, the home required minor masonry repairs, along with fresh stucco applied on the dormers. Once repairs were completed, our team prepped the surface and applied our full masonry stain system in a new custom color – Shoji White.

Why Shoji White?

The original brick had heavy fading, multiple conflicting tones, and didn’t pair well with the client’s new roof and window upgrades. They wanted a lighter, warm white that would tie everything together without looking too stark.

Shoji White provided the perfect blend—soft, balanced, and timeless, adding warmth while modernizing the entire exterior.
