On June 27, 2026 the Chicagoland Veterans Campus held its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting as part the America 250 events. The guest speaker was Major General Rodney Boyd, commander of the Illinois National Guard. Mayor Tom Hundley of the Village of Addison, and US Navy Veteran, presented a resolution welcoming the Campus and many other dignitaries from various organizations presented letters of commemoration and congratulations. After the ceremony, visitors were able to meet dozens of living historians, they were able to take tours of the museums, Resource Office and library, take photos with multiple vehicles from the 1940s, meet the Honey Bears and enjoy a free concert provided by Tony Ocean. Thank you to all those that attended and thank you to all of our supporters. Hope you enjoy the photos. If you want to see the whole ceremony it will soon be posted on the Village of Addison’s website, FB page and here.

At the June 15th Village Board meeting a proclamation was read recognizing the Chicagoland Veterans Campus for its service to our valued veterans and its tireless effort toward educating communities, including Addison.
The Chicagoland Veterans Campus plays a major role in contributing to the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation. Comprised of six independent museums, the Chicagoland Veterans Campus is successful in promoting awareness of the impact veterans have had since the start of our nation, being a resource center for the community, and serving as support and comfort to those men and women who have served our country. The Chicagoland Veterans Campus provides innumerous additional resources to veterans and their families, highlights their individual histories, displays artifacts, and serves as the only Veterans history library of its kind in the Chicagoland area. It also works to gather catalogues, oral histories, films, and books, makes information available to researchers, and leads programs to further their communities understanding of veterans and the military.
The Village of Addison would like to thank them on their dedicated efforts, recognize their value in our community as resource for our veterans, and highlight their immense contribution as an academic resource for us all. The Village would also like to congratulate them on their upcoming Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony taking place on Army Trail Road, at their campus, on June 27!
