We have felt the love in the store this first weekend of our closing sale and appreciate all the kind words and shared memories. Our new cedar door! Six years ago (I think) I answered an ad for composite boards that turned out not to be composite, but closer to MDF. "I can make it work," I thought, "if I seal the heck out of it with rhino paint." I mean, I drove over an hour to get the stuff and it was cheap!Well, water found its way in last year and has been swelling the door ever since. I recently came across some Eastern red cedar that has been drying since 1977. Sealed with Penofin, the color popped.

A post was so bowed on two axes, and the gates themselves were so heavy, that this customer's gate would not shut and was very hard to swing. I used my truck as a hitching post to hold one side plumb while adding a brace. The other, twisted post was pulled up and replaced. I added wheels to the gates for support during the swing. Opens and closes nice and easy now.
