Dead Media Market 6 was an absolute whirlwind. It’s a day that I get to be immersed in the best environment of friends new and old, patrons, media and straight up good vibes. We now have visitors and vendors coming from out of state to be part of this event and it’s all for the love of dead media, connections, and friendships. Over half of this haul was donations and amazing deals that allow the museum to acquire and preserve these items for the community to be able to see and learn about in person. We are also working on digitizing and archiving everything as true historical artifacts. Thank you to everyone that came out, spread the word, shopped, traded, sold, posted, tagged and made the event possible. This is one of the biggest fundraisers that supports the museum and we can’t do it without y’all.

and hooked up the amazing 86-87 Media Home Video catalog, Fuji Blank Tape Display and crispy copy of Horror Workout, dropped the fire spread of Creepshow original drawings and cells, hooked up the lot of Full Moon promotions, Critters pin, and that gangster 92 calendar. laid all the beta tapes, PC Games, Troma promo, and our new skinny boy pumpkin blow mold. came through with the Evil Dead PS game and a fat stack of donated sealed blanks. donated an insane amount of the blanks. Brian Mattoni blessed us with a crazy deal on the Standees, hooked up the Blair Witch Poster, and came in with an entire lot of Rental Posters. The Trinitron was a donation from a complete stranger named Josh that loved the museum. donated Johnny Mnemonic. and hooked up the making of T2. Mustafa brought absolute fire in the sealed first print vinyl soundtracks for Return Of The Living Dead and Dawn Of The Dead. rounded out our VHS hall. Lastly, and came with all the promo jacket heat but I settled for The Blob promo hand warmer. Time to get cracking on framing, displaying, and curating. Honoring a true masterpiece of 80s cinematic chaos today: Maximum Overdrive (1986) There is absolutely nothing quite like Stephen King’s sole directorial debut. I mean, where else do you get a rogue comet turning every machine on Earth into a cold-blooded killer? From killer vending machines to the legendary, nightmare-inducing Green Goblin truck circling the Dixie Boy Truck Stop, this movie is pure, unadulterated, campy fun. It doesn’t take itself seriously for a single second, Emilio Estevez is the ultimate reluctant hero, and the entire soundtrack is literally just AC/DC blasting “Who Made Who” while things blow up. It’s loud, it’s ridiculous, and it’s an absolute staple in my movie rotation. If you haven’t experienced the beautiful madness of a killer steamroller, you’re missing out.

Back in ‘84, these standees were right at the register, tempting us to collect the exclusive Gremlins storybooks and read-along vinyl records. Pictured here is “The Gift of the Mogwai,” the first of five books in the set.

This display is exceptionally hard to find today, making it one of the rarest pieces in our museum and a massive win for physical media preservation.

VHSfest was a complete fever dream. Here is haul 1 of 2 of what we picked up for the museum. Some great promotional merch from both and including an OG Universal Home Video tape catalog, some promo inserts, an insanely rare Puppet Master 2 postcard, Freddy’s Dead ad kit/mailer, and a Jack-O contest mailer. had SO many things I wanted but was able to grab a couple Magnetic Video Beta releases and a Hi-8 release of Gremlins 2. spread the love and donated some tapes, plus we scored a couple Videodiscs and a nice assortment of VHS we didn’t have in the archive including the lenticular must-have Uncle Sam. 10/10 would recommend attending. Already planning for next year.

Remember the absolute rush of walking into the school library during Scholastic Book Fair week?

The money burning a hole in your pocket, the neon green slime font, and the smell of fresh paperback pages... Our Goosebumps Spotlight exhibit has a legendary piece of childhood history on display! A fully-loaded, original Goosebumps spinning rack that was only used for Scholastic Book Fairs. And this is just one of over 300 pieces on display in the retrospective.

For so many, R.L. Stine was the gateway drug to the horror genre and a lifelong love of physical media. Preserving these artifacts isn't just about nostalgia—it’s about keeping the tangible, community-driven history of horror culture alive for the next generation of monster kids.

Three of the newest little guys we have at the museum. Preserving retro technology is also a huge part of our mission. Not just the televisions, but the home video players and accessories. A future exhibit spotlight will focus on the evolution of technology including: Cartrivision, U-Matic, Beta, VHS, Videodisc(CED), Laserdisc, D-VHS, HD-DVD, DVD, and Blu-Ray.
