We got out to enjoy some winter sunshine with Boscoe and Mimosa! These two rescues from the Cleveland APL are a bonded pair who are inseparable, even on walks. Here at Mongo Mutts & Friends ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š We love all large breed/small breed combinations and we value the relationship between you and your pets as well as the relationship they have built with each other and we will continue to strengthen these bonds in your absence.

What walks provide that backyards wonโ€™t:

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š Dogs thrive on variety - Most dogs enjoy seeing different things, smelling new smells, feeling new dirt under their feet and hearing unfamiliar sounds. Relying solely on the backyard for your dogโ€™s exercise can eventually lead to behavior problems.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š If solely kept in enclosed spaces, dogs can become sheltered - It is not uncommon for dogs kept in yards to become bored and frustrated, which can lead to destructive behaviors such as excessive barking, fence rushing, and escape attempts. Balancing the backyard with walking is essential to make sure your pup gets the exercise and bonding time they need.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’šPhysical Health Benefits - Walking provides enrichment, socialization and training that a backyard may not. Dogs are, by nature, curious explorers, therefore going on a walk or hike is a great way to let them explore.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š How often should you walk your dog? Expert veterinarians recommend at least one 15 to 20 minute walk each day, more if your dog doesnโ€™t have a backyard to be let out.

๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š If a backyard is your only option send us a message or give us a call! And be sure that you have a secure, fenced yard so that your animals cannot escape. You should also microchip your pet, as many animals get out through small holes or by digging under fences.

Thank you to everyone already making reservations! Top 5 reasons to hire Mongo Mutts & Friends today:

1. We Love Pets! Working with animals and enriching their lives is our passion. We love puppy breath, walks in the rain, kitty purrs, adventures in the snow, and endless tail wagging. With our available services we want to help make your pet the happiest they can be! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š

2. Socialization and Stimulation in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park: Your pet gets to see, smell, feel and hear all types of new and interesting things when out for a walk. Walking not only gets your dog the exercise he or she needs, but it also stimulates his or her senses. We will play with cats outdoors if that is apart of their regular routine ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š

3. Bathroom Breaks for Puppies and Senior Dogs: Eight to ten hours is a long time for Mongo to hold it! While all dogs can benefit from a mid-day walk, new puppies and senior dogs especially benefit from an extra potty-break. Weโ€™re happy to help keep up the potty-training for your puppy, and maintain your senior dogโ€™s schedule. Gone longer than 10 hours? No problem! We do overnight stays! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š

4. Regular Bathing Helps Monitor Your Dogs Health: A bath not only removes bacteria and dirt but it acts as a time to take a close look at your dog to check to see if they're healthy. During their bath, we will make sure to check their ears, teeth, nails, and skin to see if there is redness or anything abnormal. This time is also a great way to check for fleas, mites, or lice that way you can get these issues taken care of quickly ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š

5. Your Dog is Safe, Loved, and Happy:
Your dogโ€™s happiness and safety are your primary concern. Elizabeth is a professional pet-sitter, fully-trained and background checked. To give you extra peace of mind, you can communicate with Elizabeth anytime and get updates on your poochโ€™s happiness and health in real-time. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š
