Happy "Funder Friday"

Fundraisers like our 10 Year Celebration are impossible without the support of generous sponsors. We are so grateful to Goodyear and Lehner Family Foundation for their investment into Middlebury through A Taste of Middlebury, as well as so many other foundations, organizations, and individuals who have supported our vision for Middlebury.

We are so excited to celebrate 10 years of impact, investment, and a once forgotten neighborhood changed for the better on THURSDAY @ 5:30pm!

Join us for a night of reflection, celebration, and expectation (with amazing food and stories). We'd love to see you there!

Happy "Funder Friday!"

THANK YOU to GPD Group Employees' Foundation for their generous support of Akron Hope's year-round programming! Because of GPD's continued investment in our local schools, our community can become a place of family and relational stability for our neighbors. Our work is impossible without the generous support of funders, community partners, and donors. Together, we are helping create a neighborhood where no one fights alone. Thank you, GPD Employees Foundation!

Two weeks ago, we hosted a duplex open house for one of our TWO new build duplexes in Middlebury! 🎉🥳

Traditional Middlebury housing doesn’t always offer options for those that need more or less than a standard single-home. We believe that healthy neighborhoods offer choice in housing for all ages and all family sizes, which is why we turned these two vacant lots into duplexes!

Thanks for all who showed up to support our housing and fund development teams at the open house. Stay tuned for more housing development updates!

Happy Funder Friday!

Thank you to ServeOhio for their recent grant to support Akron Hope on Global Youth Service Day! Ten students from local high schools (Walsh Jesuit and Magnificat) joined Akron Hope to pack 400 birthday bags for students at Mason CLC. The activity began with an overview of The Well CDC and Akron Hope and how this project plays into placemaking at Mason and Middlebury.

Volunteers helped open packages, prep materials, and pack and seal bags. Birthday bags were filled with fun surprises for students including pop its, mini erasers, slinkies, mini drawing boards, fruit snacks, pencils, and stickers. Students have an extra reason to look forward to their birthdays because they know they get to visit the principal and receive a birthday bag. It's very helpful to have a full year's supply prepared so we can have them ready to replenish when the principal gets low.

“The birthday bags provided by the Akron HOPE program make our students feel truly seen and celebrated." says Mason CLC Principal. "Because school budgets don’t allow us to provide something like this, this partnership fills a very real gap and brings joy to our students on their special day. When birthdays are announced and students come to the office to receive their bag, you can see the pride and excitement. It’s a small gesture that makes a lasting impact on a child’s sense of belonging.”

Total number of volunteers engaged: 12
Total number of youth service hours: 22

Thank you to for investing in our Akron Hope program so we can continue to support students and families at our partnered schools!

Ten years ago today, The Well Community Development Corporation set out with a simple but powerful mission: to invest in PEOPLE through a neighborhood that had long been overlooked...

Today, we celebrate a decade of that commitment to Middlebury.

What was once marked by disinvestment has become a neighborhood of renewal, connection, and possibility. Over the past ten years, we’ve seen more than physical transformation of houses - we’ve witnessed relationships built, trust restored, and neighbors becoming partners in shaping a shared future.

Homes have been restored. Spaces have been reimagined. But most importantly, a stronger, more connected community has taken root.

This work has never been about quick fixes. It’s about long-term presence, listening, and walking alongside residents to create lasting change...and the impact speaks for itself: a neighborhood that looks different, feels different, and moves forward together, and the work is not done yet!

To every resident, client, volunteer, community partner, and donor who has been part of this journey, THANK YOU. This milestone belongs to you.

Here’s to ten years of impact, and the next decade of continued investment, hope, and transformation. 💛
