It is a heat wave here in the SF Bay Area and this is not a time for using the stove so of course I made bread last night. So maybe not the brightest idea but now I have a great soft and tasty rye bread base to make these no bake open faced sandwiches for all my meals for the next few days! Thanks Sweden for the inspiration!
__
This particular 'tartine' if you will contains all sorts of homemade goodies courtesy of . We start with the bread base (a rye sourdough with a pinch of active dry yeast as an assist), a spread of nice salted butter (store bought cultured butter + flakey salt added), homemade white wine mustard, and pickled red bell peppers as a nice spread base since I have yet to make this cauliflower 'pate' thing I want to try. It was then topped with homemade Mustard Sauerkraut, fried sprouted lentils (the weirdly kind of taste like bacon!), home grown micro greens, and a crushed kale chip.
__
All these homemade goodies made the perfect little open faced sandwich and saved me from using more of the kitchen on this scorching hot day! I am looking forward to trying more combos soon!

What toppings would go on your dream open faced sandwich?

Spring finally is hitting the San Francisco area and it is an exciting time. While we always need the rain it doesn't usually rain for 4 + months straight so just sunny days on the horizon is a very welcome sight. I have decided to celebrate this most wonderful season by posting a recipe for my Extra Herby Green Goddess Dressing on the site (link in profile!)
___
This Green Goddess dressing is good on everything! I love it on a salad, a grain bowl, or as a dip for chips and vegetables! I use 3 kinds of fresh herbs + other flavor enhancers like my most favorite vegan umami (savory flavor hit) Miso!

These past few weeks have been so busy for me, with work travel to Denver, social engagements, family things, and more it can be tough to have time to cook even though I love it. I usually default to eating something like hummus and some pita for convenience but some times that is not enough and that is where this delicious Taco Truck Inspired Chicken comes in.
___
Inspired by the delicious offerings of a Taco Truck and made in an Instant Pot or other similar pressure cooker it takes no time at all and is super versatile in uses. I love it in a quesadilla for dinner and a top a rice bowl (a la Chipotle) for lunch. Check out the recipe through the link in my profile!
