Rest in peace Abdullah Ibrahim, one of the great jazz pianists and bandleaders of the last century, and an admired ambassador of the anti-apartheid movement. He was 91. We were honored to host him at The Egg in November 2024 for a profoundly moving performance.
He and his band played without any amplification, holding the audience in the palm of their hands as we followed where Mr. Ibrahim led. We are so grateful to have gotten to experience that moment, and will be listening to music today.
