Your Dollar Doesn't Buy Diapers.
It Buys Hope.
People ask me all the time, "What difference does one dollar really make?"
More than you could ever imagine.
One dollar can buy several packs of construction paper for children's activities.
One dollar can help provide crayons or colored pencils so a child can learn, create, and dream.
Ten people giving one dollar can provide a baby with nearly two weeks' worth of diapers.
But this has never been about diapers.
It's about what diapers make possible.
A mother who doesn't have to choose between buying diapers or buying dinner.
A father who can go to work knowing his baby has what they need.
A baby who doesn't have to suffer painful diaper rash or infection because someone in the community cared.
A parent who can breathe... even if it's just for a moment.
You see a pack of diapers.
We see a mother who can finally focus on finding a job.
We see a father who finally has enough stability to show up for an interview.
We see a family taking their first step toward breaking a cycle.
That is what your dollar does.
At I Am Legacy PTCA, we don't believe in handing someone a box of diapers and saying, "Good luck."
We believe in changing the story.
While we're meeting today's emergency, we're also helping parents prepare for tomorrow through work readiness, résumé assistance, interview preparation, GED support, adult literacy, financial education, resource navigation, parenting support, and community connections.
Our goal isn't to create dependency.
Our goal is transformation.
We want today's recipient to become tomorrow's volunteer.
Today's volunteer to become tomorrow's mentor.
Today's struggling parent to become tomorrow's donor.
Because that's what legacy looks like.
I'll never forget one young mother.
She had finally secured housing.
Then she was incarcerated because she couldn't pay probation fines. She couldn't complete community service because she couldn't afford childcare while she worked to get back on her feet.
While she was gone, everything she owned was stolen.
Everything.
Her baby's clothes.
Her diapers.
Her furniture.
Her supplies.
Everything.
When she came to us, our community helped us replace it.
Not because she was perfect.
Not because she made every right decision.
Because a baby deserved another chance.
Because a mother was still trying.
Every parent who wakes up determined to fight for their child is worth fighting beside.
And every person who gives to help them is part of that fight.
Some people will say, "If you can't afford a baby, don't have one."
Life isn't always that simple.
Some mothers never chose the circumstances they found themselves in.
Some became parents through tragedy.
Some escaped abuse.
Some fled violence.
Some simply fell on hard times after doing everything right.
Yet they chose life.
They chose to keep showing up.
They chose to keep loving their children.
To us, those mothers are heroes.
And so are the fathers who refuse to walk away.
They don't need judgment.
They need community.
That's why we're asking you to give.
