Dougherty County Police Department Highlights Success of Flock Camera System in Combating Crime

ALBANY, Ga. — The Dougherty County Police Department highlights the continued success of the county’s Flock Safety camera system as a valuable tool in combating crime, assisting investigations and supporting public safety efforts throughout the community.

Since implementation, the camera system has played a critical role in helping law enforcement solve and investigate numerous felony cases, recover stolen property and assist neighboring agencies with criminal investigations.

According to the Dougherty County Police Department, Flock camera technology assisted in solving the following felony crimes:

2024
• One felony murder
• Six aggravated assaults involving fi****ms
• One armed robbery/aggravated assault
• One aggravated child molestation case
• One kidnapping
• One aggravated stalking case
• Three burglaries
• Two motor vehicle/cargo thefts
• Three felony thefts

2025
• Five aggravated assaults involving fi****ms
• Three armed robberies/aggravated assaults
• Five burglaries
• Three motor vehicle thefts
• Two felony shoplifting rings that also helped the Albany Police Department clear multiple cases

2026
• Two burglaries

In addition to solving crimes within Dougherty County, the Flock camera system has also been used to support neighboring law enforcement agencies, particularly the Albany Police Department, in multiple criminal investigations.

Officials say the system has also strengthened proactive policing efforts through traffic enforcement initiatives that resulted in numerous citations, arrests of wanted individuals, recovery of stolen property and seizure of contraband.

The Dougherty County Police Department is investigating a reported card skimmer discovered on a card machine at the Dollar General located at 5731 Newton Road.

Anyone who used a debit or credit card at this location and notices unusual or unauthorized activity on their account is encouraged to contact the Dougherty County Police Department immediately.

This matter remains under investigation. Residents are encouraged to monitor their bank accounts closely and report any suspicious transactions to their financial institution and law enforcement.
