Prevent Child Abuse New York

April 30th is ACEs Awareness Day in New York State.
Although ACEs Awareness Day highlights the consequences and prevalence of childhood adversity, our focus remains on emphasizing the importance of preventing ACEs from ever occurring. ACEs can continue to impact us throughout adulthood – such as by influencing behavior, relationships, and health outcomes. These effects are mitigated by Protective Factors which incorporate nurturing relationships and environments which foster a sense of value and belonging. Protective factors at any age highlight the power of connection, of moving from isolation to community, of building resilience through each proactive step.
