Today we remember the Black Americans in Charleston who, in 1865, reburied more than 250 soldiers with dignity and respect and the 10,000 who gathered to honor them with a proper memorial service, starting the tradition that later became known as Memorial Day.

Today at our shop, we will be putting up paper poppy flowers in honor of those who served and now died. We are especially mindful of the 17 per day who served and will die by su***de, that is one every 84 minutes.

And we will continue the work of trying to build a better community for all.

If you’d like to dedicate a poppy to someone who once served and has now died, please drop their name in the comments or DM us and we will add them. 🌼🪖
