Ruff To Fluff Grooming

This cute little man got quite the makeover today! 🐾✨

He was such a sweetheart for his groom and left feeling fresh, clean, and so much more comfortable. Unfortunately, his coat was a bit matted, which meant we had to take him short today. While it’s never my goal to remove more coat than necessary, it’s the kindest and safest option for the dog.

Matting is more than just tangled fur. It can:

• Pull tightly on the skin, causing discomfort and pain
• Hide sores, hot spots, and skin infections
• Restrict movement
• Trap moisture, dirt, and bacteria
• Reduce airflow to the skin
• Make grooming more stressful and time-consuming

The good news? Most matting is preventable with regular brushing at home and routine grooming appointments.

One of the best techniques to learn is line brushing. If you’re not sure what that is, YouTube has some fantastic tutorials that show exactly how to properly brush all the way down to the skin rather than just the surface of the coat.
