The best time to go solar was yesterday. The next best is today. While the federal tax credit is gone, New Mexico residents can still get up to $6,000 back from the state of New Mexico. There is uncertainty with Blackstone buyout of PNM. While a lot if not known about what will happen, rates will continue to go up. On top of that, during a recent PNM Pricing Advisory Committee meeting, it was announced that PNM wants to move to a Time of Use billing default, as well as to eliminate the banking of credits. These changes typically apply to new solar customers and so if you want to be grandfathered in, it is time to start looking at solar.
