The pups came to my house for tube feeding.

My gentle giant has decided to adopt the weaker one.

His name is Denim, so I’m naming the baby Denny.

Keep us all in your thoughts, especially Denny, as he’s very weak.

PLEASE consider donating … we will need formula.

Our low-cost pet vaccination clinic is coming up in less than two weeks. If your dog or cat is due for shots, sign up now!
In order to move our clients through more quickly, we're instituting separate lines for appointments and walk-ins. Not only should two lines move faster than one very long one, but check-in will be faster for people with appointments because they will have already paid.
Registration is at Tinyurl.com/YKMYCEBM

Someone sent me this old flyer recently, and it brought back a memory I wanted to share.

When I was 12 or 13, I started a tiny rescue effort at my middle school — with my mom’s help making flyers, I set up donation boxes (empty Kleenex boxes!) in every classroom, turned it into a friendly contest, and the teachers got on board too. Even quarters added up. I have no idea if it made a real dent, but kids got to see animals from Animal Humane get adopted, and that stuck with me.

It’s got me wondering: what if more middle and high schoolers started their own little advocacy clubs? Rescue and helping animals has no age limit — you don’t need to wait until you’re an adult to make something small that matters.

Just an idea I thought about on this Sunday. 🐾 (And I hope not too many dogs/cats got loose last night!)

Hank needs another chance!
We're still looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for Hank, who's being returned to our care due to not getting along with the other dogs in his adoptive home. He's smart, active, and eager to please his human friends. He'd be a great running or hiking buddy, a promising scenting or agility dog, or a good prospect for training to do another job. Hank was born in the Sandoval County animal shelter and taken into PLR foster care with 11 siblings and his mom several hours later. After leaving his nursery foster home, he contracted parvo and survived. He was the last puppy in the litter to be adopted, when he was 8 months old. That was 3 years ago. Now he's looking for another shot a finding his forever home, and he needs our help. He's come through when circumstances weren't in his favor, and he needs help to get through this new difficulty.
Hank is almost 4 years old, about 70 pounds, neutered, house-trained, and crate-trained. Hank needs an active home with no other male dogs. He loves adult humans but has no experience with children. We recommend a home with no children under about 12 -- any kids need to be able to understand that he may need space and patience. He will need to be separated from any other dog in the house while eating or playing with toys, as he tries to steal those items and could start a fight. PLR will provide supplies, training assistance, and any necessary medical care.
If you can help Hank get another chance, please DM us or fill out the foster application at Tinyurl.com/plrfoster. If you have questions, DM us or just ask in the comments.
