ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM -
Are all sins equal?

It’s a question that has sparked countless conversations:

Is lying really the same as murder? Does God see every sin exactly the same? If all sin separates us from God, why does the Bible sometimes speak of “greater” sins?

In this episode of Elephants in the Room, Pastor Jon explores what Scripture actually teaches about the seriousness of sin, God’s holiness, and why every one of us—regardless of our past—needs the same Savior.

The answer may be more nuanced than you’ve been told, and it ultimately points us to the incredible grace of Jesus Christ.

Scripture referenced:
• James 2:10
• Romans 3:23
• Luke 12:47–48
• John 19:11
• James 3:1
• Luke 18:9–14

✨Fathers Day is approaching and I saw this trend and thought it would be a beautiful way to remind our kids how blessed they are to have a dad who chose to become what he didn’t always have.

I didn’t explain what we were doing. I just let them answer the questions. While I know my husband’s story, our children only know parts of it. And that’s a good reminder to all of us: never be quick to judge someone because you never know the story they’ve lived or the battles they’ve overcome. Never envy or be jealous of someone, what they endured, what they lived through is a bill you wouldn’t want to pay.

My husband’s father was orphaned and adopted at seven, and my husband parents divorced when he was seven. His dad was a good man but had a difficult start.

I’m so blessed to have my husband, a man of God, anointed minstrel, funny, strong but no nonsense. With the help of God, he chose not to let the past define our future. Together, we decided to break cycles, build a home centered on God, and give our children a different legacy.

Watching our kids step forward, I realized they were seeing the quiet sacrifices that built the life they simply call normal.

I celebrate the fathers who show up, especially those who had to learn fatherhood without a perfect example.

Generational blessings begin when someone decides, “It stops with me, and with God’s help, a new legacy begins.”

Happy Father’s Day, Dameon! My love, I’m so proud of you & grateful for the godly legacy you’re building for our family. 🤍
