Once again a federal judge has blocked Donald Trump from deploying National Guard troops into an American city, this time it’s Chicago, where Trump is trying to deploy 300 Texas National Guard soldiers. The judge concluded what many of us already know, there is no rebellion going on in Chicago. Trump and his authoritarian regime have overreached yet again and yet again they have been struck down by the law. If only the Supreme Court possessed the morality and ethics of our circuit court justices, Trump’s whole fascist agenda would be relegated to the garbage bin of history where it belongs.

On January 20, 2023, NASA astronaut Nicole Aunapu Mann made history as the first Native American woman to conduct a spacewalk.

Mann, a member of the Wailacki of the Round Valley Indian Tribes, was part of the mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS), where she and astronaut Koichi Wakata worked on installing solar panel support structures.

Her spacewalk lasted over 7 hours, marking a significant milestone not only in space exploration but also in the representation of Indigenous communities in STEM fields.

Mann’s journey, from being selected by NASA in 2013 to commanding the SpaceX Crew-5 mission in 2022, is a testament to perseverance and breaking barriers.

This achievement serves as an inspiration to Native American youth, encouraging them to dream big and pursue careers in science and technology.
