Toby is a 6-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua found as a stray. Toby has never met a stranger—he absolutely loves people and is happiest when he's by your side soaking up attention.

He's also good with other dogs and would fit in well with a canine companion or be perfectly content as your one-and-only best friend. At 6 years old, Toby is past the puppy stage but still has plenty of love, tail wags, and happy moments to share.

After everything he's been through, Toby is ready to leave his days of wandering behind and find a forever family who will cherish him.

If interested in meeting Toby please submit the online application found on our website www.argosdogrescue.org under Adopt.

Rawhide is NOT appropriate for dogs.

One of the largest peer-reviewed canine nutrition studies, conducted by the University of Helsinki and published in Scientific Reports (a Nature Portfolio journal), found that puppies🐕 given processed rawhide bones🦴 daily were 117% more likely to develop chronic digestive disease later in life.

The researchers were studying chronic enteropathy—a long-term inflammatory digestive disease that can cause recurring diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss, and poor digestion.

Interestingly, the study also found that puppies fed more fresh, minimally processed foods, including non-processed meat-based foods and raw meaty bones, had a lower risk of developing chronic digestive disease later in life.

Rawhides have also raised manufacturing concerns. In one major FDA recall, some products were found to contain a quaternary ammonium compound (QAC) that was approved for cleaning food-processing equipment but not approved in the U.S. for use as a processing aid in rawhide chews. Some rawhides have also been reported to contain titanium dioxide, a whitening agent that European food safety experts say can no longer be considered safe as a food additive because concerns about potential DNA damage🧬 could not be ruled out.

Hospice Foster Needed for Sweet Sadie ❤️

Sadie is an 11-year-old Boxer/Mastiff mix who lost her beloved owner and is now looking for a peaceful place to spend her senior years.

Her previous foster mom describes her as smart, gentle, friendly, and easy to love. Sadie has great house manners, gets along with other dogs and cats, and enjoys relaxing indoors or taking in the cool New Mexico mornings. Like many seniors, she has some vision and hearing loss and mild arthritis.

While fostering for Argos in our Loved at Last hospice program Argos provides everything—food, supplies, veterinary care, and medications. You provide the love.

If you can open your home to Sadie, please email [email protected] or complete a foster application at www.argosdogrescue.org.
