My cozy reading chair is finally ready!! I’ve finally reached the age where I can probably maybe safely own a white chair…but I’m still nervous enough about it I decided to cover the high-use parts with the cutest fabric I found on sale. So then, of course, I also had to cover all the throw pillows on my couches so the whole living room would tie in together. 😬 I’m so happy with how it came out! It’s been a work in progress on my never ending to-do list for ages, but sometimes a girl just needs an afternoon with her sewing machine, you know?
When your to-do list is overflowing, how do you balance the have-tos with the want-tos?
I will admit I napped in this on Sunday before I finished all the pillows and covers. It’s so stinking comfy! A very dangerous napping zone. 😆 And because I’m sure some will be asking, here’s the link to the chair: https://amzn.to/4w6AnAN (I may receive a small commission as an Amz associate).
And yes, if I have my way, some new books will definitely be partially written in this spot too. 😆 Happy reading, friends!

Went to one of the BEST concerts I’ve ever attended tonight! My girl and I (and friends) had the best time singing along with Josiah Queen as well as Jervis Campbell and Gable Price And Friends. Nothing like listening to a few thousand voices worship the Lord together with some incredibly talented musicians.

Earlier today, I was sitting at a table with this cute little fake succulent. I noticed how realistic it looked, not for the color or thickness of the leaves, but largely due to the fake brown tips on some of the leaves and along the stem. Just glancing at it, you’d think this little guy was real! It even had flaws!
Made me think about fictional characters. The best ones, the most lifelike, are the ones with noticeable flaws. Wounds. Unsavory bits that keep them from being too perfect. Without the imperfections, they feel too plastic, too curated, too perfect to be believable.
Which of course made my brain jump to my overall dislike of social media. It encourages us to be the plastic plant without any flaws. Or the flaws we’re comfortable showing only serve to curate an image so we pass as “real.” Anyone else tired of the plastic and just really searching for people who are *actually* real? I’m tired of settling for “realistic” unless it’s in books. How about you?
