Frame made of malleable iron. Drive gear with extra wide rim. Two pinions, with drive pinions supported by ball thrust bearing at the end of the spindle. Three-jaw, spring-less chuck adjustable 0 to 3/16 inch. Black enameled frame, drive gear painted red; bright parts nickel plated.

After the merger with Millers Falls Co., Goodell-Pratt hand drill No. 5.5 received some overhaul but was still sold with Goodell-Pratt markings and under original numbering convention. The catalog No. 42, which offered goods made by Millers Falls Co. and former Goodell-Pratt Co. described this drill as follows:
Known the world over for its smooth operation, years of serviceability and fine finish. Two speeds with ratios of 3.8 to 1 and 1.3 to 1, changed by turning the shift k**b. Ball bearing spindle. Steel pinions.

Millers Falls Hand Drill Side Handle known as a "Mushroom".
This handle is made as a replacement for missing k**bs on many MF No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 other Millers Falls hand drills produced between 1907 and 1935.
Turned in hardwood and finished in Red Mahogany Poly. Brass ferrule.
