UNM Native American Leadership in Education Program

The UNM Educational Leadership Program would like to congratulate and thank Dr. Shawn Secatero who has been named the next NALE coordinator for this academic year. His role began July 1st. We know Dr. Secatero will do a wonderful job continuing to nurture and grow NALE. We wish you all of the best.

Four of the UNM NALE students presented at the MAI Ki Te Ao: Indigenous Doctoral Gathering in Aotearoa New Zealand today. Congratulations to Catherine Montoya and Jodi Burshia who are a part of the 1st NALE cohort and Michelle Lee and Haeyalyn Muniz who are part of the 2nd NALE cohort. Representing the NALE family well.

The NALE LEAD 692 NALE summer workshop finished their community visits visiting the Pueblo of Laguna Education Department and the Pueblo of Acoma Haak’u Learning Center. We always appreciate and enjoy learning from tribal communities to see Indigenous education in action.

The 2nd NALE cohort were able to continue their visits to Indigenous education sites today visiting the Pueblo of Jemez immersion headstart, Riverside charter school then on to the Pueblo of Zia to meet with Marsha Leno and finally to the Bernalillo School District Indian Education Program. Appreciate all of the heartwork and sharing from these communities and individuals.
