Last week’s heat wave and continuing high temperatures have kept Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc. PACE busy keeping participants cool and safe. “We are responsible for them 24/7," said director Ruby Kennedy. "Their well-bring rests in our hands, so it doesn’t matter if a hurricane comes through or if a blizzard or heat wave strikes.”
