Such an amazing training & group!!!!

Our amazing Chicago training…there are no words for how powerful the learning was with this group! What you can do on the 15th floor above the city watching the sun rise and set! Crazy awesome!!!!

Something I’ve been noticing in sessions lately is how many of my young adult clients are hitting this stage of life where emotional growth suddenly becomes very real. Many come into therapy saying, “I didn’t realize how much I was carrying until now.” Young adulthood has a way of slowing you down enough to notice your emotional world more clearly. Your habits, reactions, boundaries, strengths, and the places that still feel vulnerable.

This stage of life can bring up old patterns you didn’t choose but learned over time. How you cope with stress, how you relate to others, how you handle conflict or closeness. Not because anyone meant harm, but because emotional skills aren’t typically taught intentionally. Most of us absorbed what we could from the environments we grew up in.

Understanding childhood wounds isn’t about viewing your parents as “bad” or “uncaring.” Maybe they were loving in the ways they knew how, but couldn’t handle big feelings, hard conversations, or your emotional needs. And as a kid, you filled in the gaps.
Maybe you grew up being the “easy one,” the “responsible one,” or the “strong one”. Not because you naturally were or wanted to be, but because someone had to be. Maybe there’s a part of you that’s just now understanding why relationships feel confusing, why you might overthink everything, or why you always seem to take care of everyone else first.

This is about that moment of awareness. The point where you start to understand why you react the way you do and realize you have choices going forward. No blame, no shame, just compassion for the younger you who did the best they could… and curiosity for the adult you’re becoming. You’re right on time!
