Sunday, June 14, commemorates the adoption of the United States flag. Since a 1916 proclamation by President Woodrow Wilson, this date has been marked as “Flag Day.” Congressional legislation designating that date as national Flag Day was signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1949.

From 13 stars to 50, the American flag has been a symbol of freedom and liberty throughout the world. To learn more about the history of the American flag, click here: https://www.loc.gov/item/today-in-history/june-14

It was great to see Mimi Chamberlain again at the capitol! I really appreciated learning about her recent experience in the YMCA Youth and Government program.

Mimi is a Beaver County high school student and YMCA youth advocate. In the Youth and Government program, students act as legislators, judges, and executive officials in model governments at local, state, and national levels.

It was an honor for my wife and I to attend the Beaver Falls Fire Department Fire Banquet, celebrating 150 years of service to our community.

When I talk to firefighters from other parts of our region and commonwealth, they regularly speak about the Beaver Falls Fire Department’s amazing skill, professionalism, and expertise.

Chief Stowe reminded those in attendance of the bravery and willingness of all his members to lay down their life to save others. It was a reminder to us of how fortunate we are to have these men and women serving. Thank you to Chief Stowe and the entire department for your service!

I’m proud to join dozens of my colleagues in pledging to fight the governor’s plan to drain the Rainy Day Fund to balance an irresponsible budget proposal.

The Rainy Day Fund was created for emergencies, not to kickstart perpetual government programs with no permanent funding source.

Short-sighted moves like this lead to tax increases. And I believe Pennsylvanians already send too much money to Harrisburg. We need a fiscally responsible budget plan, not more deficit spending.

We’re back in Harrisburg for the marathon of June and less than a month away from the June 30th constitutional deadline to get the state budget passed.

The governor’s proposal outpaces incoming funds by $6 billion. Once again, it’s simply something we cannot afford. We cannot continue to increase spending every single year and add even more of tax burden in the coming years on Pennsylvanians.

If we’re going to talk so much about affordability for our constituents, we need to have our own house in order in Harrisburg.

Darlington Days is the kickoff to summer for my family and our county. It was great to speak Saturday at the opening ceremony and spend time with so many of you in the community!

Thank you to the Darlington Days committee, Darlington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Darlington Township Police Department, Little Beaver Lions Club, Little Beaver Historical Society, Darlington Polo Club, America250PA, and all the businesses for making this event the great big slice of Americana that it is! 🇺🇸

Thank you to Kyle Bender and Tiny Tot Child Development Center for having me visit and tour your facility in Rochester this week!

Kyle has visited my office in Harrisburg multiple times to advocate for early education and always brings along art from his students at the center. A few of them made me some more artwork for my district office while I was visiting.

It was great to meet all the teachers and students!
