You haven’t truly experienced the Alpena County Fair until you’ve seen a grown adult try to convince a stubborn donkey to run a straight line.

That’s right, the Donkey Races are officially coming to the grandstands, and it is guaranteed to be the most chaotic, hilarious, and unpredictable event of the whole week!

Will they sprint? Will they completely stop to admire the crowd? Will they turn around and go backward? Nobody knows, not even the riders!

Join us Tuesday, August 18th at 7:00pm. You won't want to miss this!

Do you remember the AMAZING cutouts that filled our fence with color and beauty the last 2 years? We want to give a massive shoutout to our top 3 Cutout Fundraiser winners from the past two years: Rebel Roots, Sherwin Williams, Hanger Clinic, and Switzer Veterinary Clinic! Your incredible designs set the bar seriously high.

Your support of these fundraisers does real good right here at home. Because of your past generosity, we’ve been able to:

🔊 Upgrade our sound system so you never miss a beat of the action.

The 2026 Challenge is ON!

Support the Alpena County Fair, One Square at a Time!

Our annual Support the Fair with a Square fundraiser is back, and we can't wait to see everyone's creativity on display!

Businesses, organizations, families, and individuals are invited to purchase a wooden square and transform it into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that represents you. Once completed, the squares will be displayed along the front fence of the fairgrounds for thousands of fairgoers to enjoy.

As an added bonus, every square will be entered into a Facebook "Like" Contest, where the community can vote for their favorite design!

Every dollar raised goes directly toward improvements that help keep the Alpena County Fair growing for generations to come.

A huge THANK YOU to Alpena Home Depot for generously donating the wood for this fundraiser. Your support helps make projects like this possible! ❤️
