And these words stay with me no matter what, no matter where.
I sat down to listen to The Zimbabwe Blessing – and from the opening lines of an Ndebele speaker, my heart was squeezed. Familiar sights and sounds, the music of the names, Shona, Ndebele and Zimbabwe English. By the time of the first word in isiNdebele that squeeze made my eyes leak and my heart soar with pride.
This, this is my land, my people. No matter how far I roam, settle or transit, I am a Zimbabwean.
And no matter who, what or where we truly are in this together. The human race.
