Last night was a first, and it was a blast!! As one of many casualties of these very difficult times, high school proms across the nation were cancelled. I had the privilege and creative opportunity to work with a school dean of a local high school to bring some sort of special, prom night happiness to their graduating seniors. This experience was enjoyed as a single community through a Zoom meeting we called "Prom Preview" (Hopes of something more to follow...) The young ladies got to do their hair, makeup applied & prom dresses worn. The young men got to wear their suits & tuxes, (and do their hair too!) And everyone participated in listening to a live DJ mix show of the songs they requested, win raffle prizes real-time, see each other and how they looked, post their Chats online, and most importantly, if only for a single hour of their young lives, forget how much the world has changed - and just enjoy Prom Night with their buddies...
I could have received no greater reward than to see their smiling faces. (All 168 of them!)
